People's Stories in Erasmus+

Have you ever wondered what it's like to open up to strangers, tell your story and be understood? Or maybe live with them some magical experiences that you will always remember and that will make you want to go back in time just a little to enjoy what you once lived.

Well, the Erasmus project "European Living Books Stories" in San Saba, which took place between 06-14.09.2023, was about understanding, respect, communication, empathy and acceptance. In these days we carried out various activities from which I learned different things.

I had the opportunity to experience the 5 fundamental senses (smell, sight, hearing, taste, touch) while walking on the beach with my eyes closed, guided by another participant. After 10 minutes, the roles were reversed, and I had to take care of my friend (you learn to be responsible), and the walk became a unique one. I admit, at first it was difficult because it is not easy to let someone else guide you. I felt helpless and it took some time to trust my partner.

We brainstormed on various activities, formed teams and discussed various topics. I learned to be open to other ideas. For example, I saw the perspectives of my colleagues; although the question was the same for everyone, the answer was different because everyone has a certain perspective that is influenced by the environment they come from (customs, traditions, culture).

We had fun together with the help of team games, but also individually and created bonds, but the most important thing was the fact that we learned to tell our stories, to listen and in turn to be listened to. We experienced together what it means to be a human book, to be part of a library and to find the strength to open yourself.

The Erasmus family means life, openness and acceptance, and every person should take advantage of this chance to meet other people, to travel, to share experiences at least once in their life!
